Soundtrap is a collaborative, cloud-based recording studio. Since November 2017, we are a part of the Spotify family. Together we want to democratize music making and be a collective for passionate creators, whether you already are one, or aspire to become one.

Soundtrap democratizes and empowers high-quality collaborative music-making for the many people. Soundtrap Studio was launched in beta in 2013 as the world's first web-based, cross-platform, collaborative music recording studio. The following year, Soundtrap was featured at Google I/O in San Francisco for its ground-breaking technology and collaborative features. In 2015, Soundtrap won the AASL award "Best Website for Teaching & Learning" for its ease of use in the classroom.

Rapid growth followed in both the consumer and the education space and it grew to become the preferred tool for teaching music and audio recording in K12 schools globally. Soundtrap was founded by Per Emanuelsson, Björn Melinder, Fredrik Posse, Gabriel Sjöberg and Magnus Svedjebratt in the beautiful city of Stockholm, Sweden.

“I began using soundtrap when I was in high school, and continued using it to write, record, and produce my own music.

I started using it in 2020, and have been using it ever since. I use it around once a month, once I have written a song I'd like to record.

It simplifies the recording process, and provides samples to skip the harder parts of writing music. I don't dislike anything about this platform, I believe Soundtrap is user friendly and ultimately a really fun experience.

I definitely would recommend this to other people, particularly those interested in learning how to record and produce music. It is beginner friendly, and really accessible.

“I discovered Soundtrap through ads, and word of mouth while searching up software for music production.

I started it immediately as soon as I saw the ads a couple of years ago. What was there to lose, right? Nothing! Their free version is more than equipped for basic production and drafts. Been using it for about 3 years now, to be exact and I have had no hiccups since. But if you really wish to experience it fully, the premium version really is a bang for your buck! Mobile friendly, and Mac friendly!

I use Soundtrap quite often. About three to four times a week, and have had no issues come up.

I found that the mobile apps they have developed are quite useful when on the go, so long as you have internet, and an in-built microphone for sample recording.

Personally, I have not found any aspects I dislike, as they keep updating and managing the software regularly. I am a beginner compared to other producers, and surely there will be software and programs better suited to their needs. But I found Soundtrap to be my favourite so far.

I would recommend this to people who are still starting up, and have no prior experience to production. They have a lot of tutorial videos on how to get the sound you need! And it’s an easy to use platform which does not have a massive learning curve such as other platforms like Ableton and FL Studio. But the foundational skills you learn on Soundtrap will most likely be translateable to other software in the long term

“I’ve always been interested in music and creating my music. This app gives me the opportunity to do it as a beginner. It’s easy to use as well for someone not so techy. It’s not complicated and easy to figure out when you get used to it. You must try it especially if you are an aspiring musician.”
